The Public Relations Foundation of Texas supports communications and public relations education and career development programs that directly benefit current and future professional communicators in Texas.
It is your organization, organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational and social science purposes.
Our Mission:
-
Provide a means through which those interested in the practice and teaching of public relations may assist each other through the exchange of ideas.
- Provide programs which foster adequate training and education and promote greater effectiveness in public relations.
- Provide resources for the enhancement of technical proficiencies and abilities in public relations.
-
Acquire and disseminate materials that promote the highest standards in the practice of public relations.
- Provide an exchange of materials to promote a wider acquaintance and closer relationships among members.
-
PRFT is part of the Texas Public Relations Association’s Communicators’ Connexion, a program designed to reach out to all professional communicators regardless of their affiliation and be a clearinghouse for relevant communications information.
PRFT is a constant supporter of public relations education and career growth. Whether you are a public relations professional, an instructor or a student, PRFT is working in the background to improve your career and your success.
How do we do it?
-
PRFT enriches the content of seminars and symposia by assisting with the cost of sought-after guest speakers, quality curricula and conducive facilities.
-
PRFT’s contributions make such events accessible to a broader range of participants, both students and professionals.
-
PRFT is registered in the State of Texas as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It has worked more than 30 years to strengthen and enhance the public relations profession.
-
PRFT administers the James W. Hart, Jr. Silver Spur Intern of the Year program, giving promising students a hands-on introduction to the world of public relations.
-
PRFT created the Joe Riordan Scholarship, which provides funding to allow communications students to attend TPRA’s Annual Leadership Conferences.
-
PRFT is developing a series of travelling programs to refresh and enhance the skills of communications professionals outside the state’s major cities. These programs directly supplement TPRA’s Annual Leadership Conference.
-
All donations go directly to the foundation. Financials are available for review.
-
Donating to PRFT is an opportunity to honor someone who was influential in your career, who recently achieved a career milestone, or whom you hold in high regard. Likewise, PRFT donations offer a way to create a permanent memorial to those who contributed significantly to our organization or our profession.
It works both ways.
-
If you’re growing your career, PRFT is there to help.
-
If your career is mature and successful, won’t you help lead others to success through PRFT?
-
See below for information on how.

Three types of contribution may be made:
Regular Donations
Donations may be one-time gifts or scheduled as recurring monthly, quarterly or annual contributions.
Celebrations
Honor people on special occasions, including career achievements such as awards or Public Relations Accreditation. Celebration gifts can also recognize birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and milestones.
Celebration donations are intended to honor friends, relatives and others, whether or not they're members of TPRA. It's also a great gift idea for those who "have everything." Each person honored will receive a Celebration card notifying them of the gift in their honor, and the contributor will receive a similar card acknowledging the donation.
Memorials
Memorial gifts honor deceased persons and are especially appropriate for honoring public relations practitioners and educators. Designated loved ones will receive appropriate cards making them aware of the gift, and the contributor will receive a similar acknowledgement card.
